water testing: picking the right testing kit and building a setup [updates]
So we said before we are likely going to use some time this summer to test and finish up the drop filter so that leaves us with the job, chip, and the filter which I think is a good set of projects for the summer.
I found this at Home Depot: https://www.homedepot.com/p/LABTECH-H2O-OK-Plus-Complete-Water-Analysis-Test-Kit-LT5015-6/205540501
So that test kit tests for a good amount of the water contaminants and while it isn’t the most ideal test it’s a good place to start. We’re going to need I think three kits.
One kit to test our drinking water as a control. One kit to test the lake water we collect to pour through the filter. And then one test after we’ve pounded it through the filter just once.
We are going to see if this filter we have made is worth anything because if it can’t filter out lake water from the local lake it won’t be worth much against anything in the developing world.
